FORMATTING
PRINTING
Text should be single-spaced and double spaced ( 2x ) to separate paragraphs. Be sure your letter is clear and dark for legibility. Never correct any mistakes after printing as this will appear unprofessional.
PARAGRAPHING
Breaks in paragraphs should only be made at obivous parts of your letter and appear at a consistant length for a more evenly set layout. A single line paragraph before a six or seven line paragraph may appear unsightly. Paragraphs of even length make for a much more presentable letter.
WHITE SPACE
Aside from creating space by paragraphing, you can also make space by centering the body of your text. Be sure to leave a set margin of space around your entire message, above below and at both sides. If the message is short center the body of your text to the middle of the page. If your letter is long be sure to extend your message onto a second page.
Resume
Your resume is your layout of everything you have to offer a future employer. It's where you'll describe your qualifications, background, and work experiences with an end goal of persuading a hiring manager to schedule you for an interview. Your resume and cover letter are what creates the first impression on any future employer.
